5. Female unemployment in the EU - Chart 5

Female unemployment is a serious matter of concern in Spain, where the proportion of women unemployed has more than doubled since the beginning of the economic crisis (from 10.7 to 25.5 per cent). In Italy, a relatively high unemployment rate of women (13.9 per cent), however, is associated with a very low activity rate (54.4 per cent).
