12. Female exclusion and employment rates - Chart 12

Female exclusion in the labour market - the difference bewteen female and totale employment rates standardized on total employment rate - has different degrees of intensity in EU countries. Mediterranean countries, with the exception of Portugal, are characterized by a high level of exclusion and a very low level of female employment, while Nordic countries combine a high level of employment with a low level of exclusion. As for Airmulp countries, Italy is th country in which women are more disadvantaged, with a very low level of participation in employment and a high level of gender exclusion. Conversely, Sweden is characterised by a high level of employment and a very low level of gender discrimination.
